At Crystal Lake Elementary, we believe every child is capable of academic excellence, and we strive to provide the tools, environment and support that they need to learn and thrive.

Free after-school tutoring in reading and math is available four days a week to all students in grades 3-5. This resource helps students overcome challenges they’re facing in the classroom and sharpen the skills they’ll need to succeed at the next grade level. Because tutoring is provided by our own teachers, this program is also a great opportunity for students to build relationships with members of the school staff.

High-performing fifth-graders have the opportunity to participate in the school’s A-Team, giving them the chance to compete in academic challenges against other students from throughout the county.

We also offer a gifted program through which students study an advanced curriculum.

To enhance students’ classroom learning, we offer a growing selection of after-school clubs and activities, such as gardening and mentoring. All of our after-school programs are strategically designed to bolster students’ critical thinking skills, creativity and ability to apply classroom lessons to real-world problems. Our after-school programs are also ideal settings for students to improve their confidence and experience success, which positively affects their behavior and ultimately facilities their improved academic performance.
